I am used to boarding planes at least once a year for my holidays. I am also used to having long lay overs but it didn't crossed my mind to make the most out of it. I visited HK like 5 years ago for a getaway and most of the travelers, I didn't get a chance to see all of HK. So I made this challenge to satisfy my hunger for travel and adventure.

Visa free--check! No hassles in passing through immigration. Having a proof of outbound airline ticket and visa are enough proof that you're just enjoying your stop. What I love about HK is the accessibility from the airport to the city. No worries when to travel back.

We made it to Central station. Its my second time here but still I look lost by spreading my map. We took our exit on gate B and crossed the road towards the overpass that connects to the Star Ferry pier. When we reached the pier, we bought tokens worth USD 0.40 each to ride the ferry. Star Ferry provides an inexpensive mode of harbour crossing (Wikepedia). And the harbour is crossed by underwater railway and road tunnels, what amazing structures they have! I was interested because of its construction, function and historical importance. We rode the Twinkling Star fleet constructed in 1964 and I watched the spectacular view on its deck like a child. Although our travel took less than 10 minutes, I would say its an experience of a lifetime since the ferries are utilized more by tourists.
